CLASS 3M STATE CHAMPIONSHIP: St. Thomas Aquinas Extends State Championship Record To 14 STATE TITLES

(FORT LAUDERDALE) -- St. Thoms Aquinas continues to do what they do... and that's WIN STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. St. Thomas Aquinas extended their State Championship Record To 14 STATE TITLES beating first-time state finalist Homestead before a crowd of 5,430 at their hometown DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale.
Aquinas and Homestead went into the half tied 7-7. Battle-tested Aquinas is known for being comfortable in uncomfortable situations, as exhibited by the way team seeks no comfort when it's game time... The Raiders come off the bus already dressed straight to the field, and during halftime, they didn't head to the locker room... they coagulated just outside of the field with their team leaders preaching their excellence and how the second half had to be more of Aquinas football.
AQUINAS TOOK OVER IN THE SECOND HALF
summed it up in an interview after the game when he stated that Aquinas was a second half team... and the Raiders turned on the jets in the 2nd Half to exert their dominance and show the Raider's their battle tested spirit and knowledge of playing in the big games.
Penn State commit King Mack gave his Nittany Lions faithful a glimpse of his future talents fielding a low punt weaving through the defense for a 58-yard Punt Return TD early in the 2nd Half to sway momentum towards the defending state champs.
Both star running backs for Aquinas showed up by nearing 100 yards each. Jordan Lyle rushed 14 carries netting 87 yards and a TD, and Gemari Sands gained 86 yards and a TD on only 5 carries, highlighted by a big 50yard scamper in the __Qtr.
