USFL Kicks Off Inaugural Season

BIRMINGHAM -- The United States Football League (USFL) will play its inaugural season-opening game at Birmingham's Protective Stadium on Saturday, April 16th before a nationally televised crowd simultaneously broadcasted on both NBC and Fox.

As players continue on their journey, continually striving to ultimately gain productive game tape to present eye time for scouts in the NFL, the USFL should become a new viable developmental league to provide a fertile output of players who've honed their skills to be evaluated by the NFL.

The USFL will consist of 8 teams nationwide who will play 10 regular-season games. One of those teams, The Tampa Bay Bandits, will represent our home state of Florida.

As we watch the opening season game between the Birmingham Stallions and the New Jersey Generals, let's look at a few key players who honed their football skills on Florida's gridiron.
