INVERNESS -- Brooksville Central junior running back Contae Cason, who leads the state of Florida in rushing yards, rushed for 301 yards, added a 35 yard touchdown reception and finished the game with two total touchdowns. However, his monster effort was not enough as Citrus crushed the Bears 47-14 in a District 5A-8 match up.

Citrus used a running game by committee approached to counter Cason's efforts. Zaire Wilcox ran for 90 yards and three scores to lead the Hurricanes ground attack. TJ Weems also chipped in 130 rushing yards on 14 carries, Joey Panyko added a six yard touchdown run, and Charles Newbould added a score from 15 yards out.

The Hurricanes added one score in the air when Connor Bishop threw a 32 yard touchdown pass to a Julius Gardner which gave Citrus a 33-7 lead near the end of the third quarter.

Citrus also received points from their special teams unit when they blocked a Central punt and Nicholas Freier recovered it in the end zone. That score was the game's last and it occurred with 4:52 left in fourth quarter.

With the win, Citrus is now (6-0) and they will host their neighboring rival Lecanto (2-3) next week.

The loss drops Brooksville Central to (3-3) and they have a bye next week before they host Crystal River (2-3) on October 11th.
