ORLANDO -- Severn (MD) Archbishop Spalding running backs Quinton Young, Jayon Venerable, and Shamar Smith combined to score six rushing touchdowns to lead the Cavaliers to 56-14 victory over the Bishop Moore Hornets at Memorial Stadium.

Jayon Venerable started the scoring with a five yard scoring run with 10:19 remaining in the first quarter. Quinton Young added touchdown runs of two and 13 yards to give Archbishop Spalding a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Shemar Smith's 8 yards touchdown run with 1:25 left in the second quarter gave the Cavaliers a 35-7 lead that they took into the locker room at halftime. Young scored his third touchdown of the evening with an eight yard run with 9:06 left in the third quarter which made the score 42-7 and prompted the running clock for the rest of the game. Venerable added his second score of the game with a 27 yard run that gave the Cavaliers a 49-14 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Archbishop Spalding also scored twice through the air. Starting quarterback Austin Tutas connected with Bryson Carter for a 72 yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Backup quarterback Nick Gutierrez tossed a 24 yard touchdown to Jordan Pennick for the game's final points with 1:41 left in fourth quarter.

Defensively, the Cavaliers dominated the line of scrimmage, consistently made plays in the Bishop Moore backfield, but the Hornets were still able to muster two scores however. Quarterback Bryce McGill scored on a one yard touchdown plunge in the second quarter and threw a 29 yard touchdown pass to Dylan Brazil in the third quarter to complete the scoring for Bishop Moore.

Archbishop Spalding (2-0) will play on the road at Potomac (MD) Bullis School (1-0), while (1-2) Bishop Moore plays Jones (2-0) on the road as well.
