Ponte Vedra Sharks Dual Threat QB Nick Tronti has been named the 2016 Florida Dairy Farmers Mr. Football. Mr. Football is awarded annually by Florida Dairy Farmers Association.

Electric both in the air and on the ground, Tronti guided his Sharks to the 5A State Championship Game where they lost in a close to-the-wire 35-33 battle with Plantation American Heritage.

During his senior campaign, Tronti threw for 3,328 yards, 34 passing TD, and only INT. Dangerous on foot, Tronti rushed for another 19 TDs, amassing 650 yards on the ground. The Sharks field general led his team to a school-best 13-1 record, and Ponte Vedra's only State Final Appearance

Tronti is currently committed to the UNC Charlotte 49ers, where he should see the field early.

Venice RB Matthew "Speedy" Laroche was second in voting, with Navarre HS RB Michael Carter voted 3rd.

Tronti joins a coveted list of stellar players to be honored with this prestigous award.

Heisman Trophy winner and Florida Gator great QB Tim Tebow played high school ball in the same city balling at Ponte Vedra Allen Nease. Tebow won the Mr. Football Award in 2005 after throwing 3,302 yards, 31 TD, 4 INT. Timmy also rushed for 1,163 yards in his senior season with another 21 yards on the ground. These numbers are very very close to Nick Tronti's season this year.

Former Yulee star RB Derrick Henry, named Florida's Mr. Football in 2012, went on to Alabama win a Heisman Trophy and lead the Crimson Tide to a National Championship. Former 2x state Champion Miami Central RB Dalvin Cook went to Florida State to become the Seminoles' All-Time Leading Rusher.
