The 2018 College Football Playoffs are Set!!!!
The College Football Playoff Committee released on Sunday the Top 4 teams to play for the coveted National Championship.
THE TOP 6
1) ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE (13-0, SEC Champion)
2) Clemson Tigers (13-0, ACC Champion)
3) Notre Dame (12-0)
4) Oklahoma Sooners (12-1, Big 12 Champion)
5) Georgia Bulldogs (11-2)
6) Ohio State Buckeyes (12-1)
Alabama #1
Bama engineered a come-from-behind victory with often forgotten general Jalen Hurts rescuing his Crimson Tide to beat Georgia 35-28 in the SEC Championship. This win cemented Bama as the top playoff selection heading into the College Football Playoff Semifinals.
Georgia & Ohio State round out the Top 6
Georgia played a great game against the nation's #1 Team, but came up short late with Jalen Hurts providing Bama the much needed change of pace. Although the win was close, the College Football Playoff committee ultimately decided that their second loss couldn't propel them over the one loss Big 12 Champion, Oklahoma. The Bulldogs' earlier loss to LSU proved to be detrimental to their National Championship hopes.
A one loss Ohio State is the last of the Top 6... I'm sure that 49-20 beatdown by Purdue played a big part in exposing the vulnerability of a shaken powerhouse dealing with internal organizational issues
UCF KNIGHTS AND FLORIDA GATORS IN TOP 10
7) Michigan (10-2)
8) UCF KNIGHTS (12-0, AAC Champion)
9) Washington (10-3, PAC-12 Champion)
10) FLORIDA GATORS (9-3)
No UCF in the Top 4?
Wait, hold up... Same ole stuff, different year. UCF will not be able to battle for the conventional National Championship. UCF captured the AAC Championship last night, with new QB Darriel Mack at the helm commanding the show en route to 348 yards passing, and 6 overall TDs. The UCF Knights have WON 25 GAMES IN A ROW, are now Back to Back AAC Champions, have TWO perfect seasons, and still do not demand the respect of the Committee to be selected in the Top 4, not even the Top 6. UCF is #8 in the eyes of CFB Playoff Committee... with many scoffing that playing in (and dominating) the American Athletic Conference not being as nearly competitive or even somewhat comparable to Power 5 conferences... We wonder if former Heisman hopeful Milton McKenzie's injury may have played a slight part in the back of the mind of the selection committee.
The Gators crack the Top 10
What a turnaround for Gator Nation... From a dismal 4-7 non bowling team to One of the Top 10 teams in the country. New 1st year Gators Head Coach Dan Mullen enigineered a nice 9-3 turnaround and has brought back much excitement to Gainesville, and rightfully so. Gators beat two ranked teams, beat their nemesis Noles, and now are back bowling... and not just regular bowling; The Gators will be representing The Sunshine State in a New Year's Six bowl game. A great start in the reloading of a storied football program.
